My dad died, my stepmom is a sneaky skank, and I think we are being taken to the cleaners by her. I can not afford an attorney, I just want to know where I stand. Aren’t survivors entitled to a percentage of a parents estate, especially if he was retired officer in the Air Force?

There is a bank account with $2,000 that the lawyer is telling me I have to move to a bank they use. Her husband, my stepgrandfather passed away before she did. Does his property transfer to the estate? Is any of this true?
